Welcome to williamnoot.com

This website pays tribute to William F A Noot the artist. William, or 'Bill' as he was known to his friends and family, was a self-taught artist. After serving in the infantry in the Second World War, he pursued a career in the Civil Service and travelled the world with his wife and daughter. It was during this time that Bill developed a real passion and talent for art.

It was not unknown for him to produce a few sketches but he focussed mainly on water colour and oil paintings. Since moving to Exeter in 1969, he was often seen in and around the area with his canvas and paints busily capturing the beauty of the local scenery. Topsham was one of his favourite spots.

This site contains only a handful of his pictures - the others he sold over the years. If you are in possession of one of Bill's paintings then please email it to me so that I can include it on this site for all to enjoy. His paintings are mostly of landscapes, and his distinctive signature is a simple .

Bill sadly passed away in 2005 aged 86 but his memory lives on through his work.
